Poly doesn't wear Prada.

It's as if
what you wear
defines
who you are.

While
the whole world
is a stage
and you are
the actor
on your debut.
*
*
Stepping out
of the shadows
in designer clothes
and trendy jewelry.

* * * * * * * ^
Are you influenced
by the hype around you?
Do you make
a big splash,
a fashion sense statement
like a red carpet mannequin?

In a world gone
fashion crazy.

Are you influenced by

the multicultural
glamour designing
gurus and image makers?

...and do you care?

fashion hmmm--I know women that hide behind make-up, high-fashion clothing, and glittery jewels, that look defines them.... I know men that do similar things...

I don't want to be defined by that.....I wear what I like, which is usually something simple, flattering, and comfortable....although I do sometimes use clothing to reflect a mood, and that "statement" is usually a look I created myself...

I do have to say, when it comes to work...I dress to make the impression....that I am in charge....that first impression can lead things in the direction I want them to go...as long as the words out of my mouth follow that lead.....

Someone recently told me; what they loved about Quebec, was that the women there dress to be lovely, that it didn't matter their physical attractiveness, as much as the confident aura they projected, but in that same conversation he told me a woman friend upon her return home to living in Quebec, felt she had to go out and spend thousands on clothing to fit in again...not a jeans and t-shirt world...to me that is sad....

I wouldn't buy Prada , but if someone wanted to give it to me, I would take it, then go to an upscale consignment shop and sell it to one of those who feel the need for that designer look! Money doesn't buy happiness, but it puts gas in my little vw so I can go to the beach!

Levi's and a tank top here sweetie.

I do own some diamonds and gold, but I use to set stones and the owner sold them to his employee's at a very very cost.

I do try to dress right at work for a lot of the reasons that sd mentioned.

I agree with jlee...Joan and Michael Eeeeek!

I am a single ladie with a mortgage so I tend mostly to put my money to better use. My house is my toy.

jlee,
Your sensible- that's a good trait,
you have a down home beauty that makes you real and admired. You can sing to me anytime.

Sunny- You are class without the extra trappings. Your intelligence combined with your sensual feminity, to me, is the ultimate turn on. You are also witty and quite articulate.
...and what a body. Burlap would look good on you.

Manny, I admire your confidence and
sense of purpose. I'd take a woman in Levis and a tank top any day over the dressy sex-you-up types tht's all a tease. You sound like the kind of woman it would be nice to come home to.

Fleur de Bee said...

haha so was Joan the canvas Michael was trying to achieve? That really IS creepy! I'll take what the mannequin is wearing today for my fashion tip if the day. It is pretty hot here so less is more I think.

I wonder how fast that man reall CAN knit? Food for though :)

I'll be honest. I like to look nice, and when a gal gets a new outfit she feels like a million bucks. But. I shop anywhere from Target, to Old Navy, to American Eagle..I am not a clothes snob by any means...

It's sad that people define you by your clothes thou...

(P.S. It's me, Shannon, New blog) =)

I agree, nobody should be judged for the brand of what they are wearing. That's just silly.

But, if I had a gagillion dollars, I'd probably be out there looking for clothing that complemented my various body features - and if it had a designer brand on it, I bet I'd buy it.

I suppose the key is buying the thing because you like it and can afford it as opposed to buying/wearing it just because it has a certain name.

When I do get to choose how I dress, i.e. - Weekends and vacations - I wear jeans, flip flops in summer and doc martins in winter. A t-shirt or a sweater. All from Target/Ross/Old Navy (Old Navy carries tall sizes - WOOT!) Doc martins aren't the cheapest shoes in the world, but damn they last at least 10 years - more since I don't get to wear them daily like in college.

If I have to do the someone's wedding or an event equally dress coded - I start at Ross, Target, Old Navy - and so on. If I can't find something that is appropriate. If I don't already have something I can use.

BUT, if I exhaust those options, I start going to the more expensive department stores to see what I can find. There has been a time or two when I've found something kindof expensive AND it had a shi shi name on it - but it worked. It made me feel great, and if others are to be believed, it looked nice too.

Also, the few times I have found a "designer" item for work out at an outlet mall, I have to say that I've worn those pieces to death and they retain their, uh....structure? NOT ALL DESIGNER PIECES DO THAT. Some are manufactured crappier than the cheapest clothing you can find.

Poly--you are sooo very good for a girls ego...just loveya babes :)

Manny said...

Once again I have to agree with sd. You are a great ego builder.

You build up not tear down. Edification.

You are the type of man I would like to greet at the door half nekkid.

ok I am being bad. sorry

I just like it to be comfortable and look decent!
I want an upclose look at the MasturStroke picture....looks interesting!

everybody cares, one way or another.

its just too expensive to stay trendy. my paycheck couldnt support today's fashions...

great post. there sure is a lot of superficiality floating about.

Cherry! said...

Yes I am influenced!!! Not so much with the actual clothes more the accessories such as sunglasses and handbags. Clothes not so much because they just get ruined and you can really only wear them a few times before everyone has seen them and you need to buy more so I stick to the cheap stuff.

Becky said...

Nope not at all! I like to be comfortable, this does not include wearing a skin tight shirt that I'm going to sweat through for fashion's sake!

Materialistic people can kiss my ass!

Polyman2 said...

BallerinaGurl,
Yea, I think Michael succeded. Think I'd love to see you in the hot pink number. Less is next to nothing.

Shanderella? How cute, I like all your outfits- especially the "Mommy" shorts.
You remind me of Mrs. P.
Have to check out the new spot.

Zooom,
My sister-in-law is a NYC clothes designer for Macy's, did work for thr GAP and others. She says designer clothes are made in the same oversea's factories that make the cheaper brands, the only difference is the designer and the cost. I personally think a woman should be more judged by how she carries herself and what she does with what is available to her.
So you have a little height? I once dated a girl that was 6'1".
Had to stand on my toes to kiss her, and I'm 5'11".

Sunny,
My praise for you is justified by what I read and feel. You just do "it" to me.

Manny-
What town did you say you live in?
Are flowers OK?...and a nice bottle of wine. I love to cook also, hope you like Italian.
Ps...be bad.

Lee Ann,
Is'nt that funny? The lengths men go through to get off. As Austin
Powers says "It's not mine".
...and my favorite picture of you is the one on the bed with the sheet casually draped over you with just a little breast showing.
Oh boy! So I'm sure whatever your in is just right.

Neko,
That is certainly true, even though I have to admit I am a People mag reader (Mostly in the John).
If I am in the wrong mood that mag gets tossed across the room at the serious silliness of the celebs and their latest fashions. I think that is what inspired this posting.
...and Neko- your OK in my book.

Cherry, you international globetrotter- I think your fine,
I look forward to viewing all your beautiful pics...and cheap? you?
Doubt it. You are tasty.

Becky,
Hey, I like a woman in a tight sweater as well as the next man, but I'd rather see a woman that's comfortable in her own look rather than putting on the dog for fashions sake.
...Oh yeah, I'm the least materialistic- but Mmmmmmmmah, that
was nice.

Mystical Me said...

Lately its all about being comfortable, but it still has to look good though. I love to buy clothes but I m more into making my own trends instead of following everyone elses.
That picture of Micheal is just fricken creepy. I always wondered who he was trying to look like, I guess now we know, lol. Thanks for sharing that.
I hope all is well with you Poly, take care you sexy beast. ;) XOXO

So "Less is more" would apply to your thrill? OK I will see what I can do for you ~wink!~

Boardshorts and a bonds singlet for me. Does that make me a yobbo?

Lee Ann said...

Thank you Poly, that is very sweet of you.

AristoNeeks said...

the thing about those glossy magazines, that we all oughta know, is that ANYone would look like the "models" they flaunt all over the pages...

with enough make-up, stylists and if all you had to do all day was exercise and do your nails..

and if all else fails, there's always the "airbrush" feature which is used on the photo's before they get published.

maybe im a tad cynical, but the "beauty" and "success" ideals out there are just ludicrous..

in the end, all that really matters, is that you make your own happiness.

be it in Prada, or Wallmart-wear.

*blush* Aww, Poly2, you are the sensei in my books. and i have a lotta books.

^_^

fashion just seems to cost 2 much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

I wear what I feel comfortable in, unless I'm looking 2 make a statement or impress someone!

:)

Webmiztris said...

nope, I just don't care! I wear whatever looks good on me. I'd never pay more than $25 for any shirt, slacks or pair of jeans. Designer stuff is retarded to me. Why should pay big bucks for expensive clothing/accessories usually covered with whatever big company logo on it (ie, Louis Vuitton) to help them advertise their already overhyped shit even more so? they should be paying ME to wear their logo!

Polyman2 said...

Hey Video,
Yes, naked is good, ala natural.
I'm sure you look great, and your clothes fit fine. That's your style.

Mystical,
I like what you wear in your profile pic. That's enough clothes.
-and yea, Wacko Jacko is creepy- he belongs in never neverland.

BallerinaGurl-
woah! I am thrilled and I'm waiting...

Ice-
Hah! Always wanted to try on one of those kilts for that very reason- to hang loose. Wallace is cool and what a brave heart- heard he likes his tequila.

Mushroom,
Had to look up yobbo, and I think with a singlet Boardshorts and a bonds singlet you just might be.

Lee Ann- Thanks, it's my genetic make-up.

3SumByotch,
Purely naked? Hmmmm, I find you very titilating, and I love the visual. I'll be back for a visit.
(I'm so transparent)

Neko,
Come here child,(Gives hug) You are
special. I like you just the way you are. Be happy.

Star-
I've been impressed with you since I first visited your site. And you got the right stuff.

miztris,
Got a good point there, maybe you can wear the polyman2 logo.

Oh course what you wear defines you. Of couse I care. When I can, I wear sexy clothes. I'm on stage and I want to be seen. But I'm also a mother, and I set a different example. Sexual, woman but not always sexy...

(by the way I added you as a link. Thanks for being around. Especially these days.)

Polyman2 said...

DevilBlueDress,
Why thank you for your kindness.
You sound like the kind of woman that knows the meaning of the word
SEXY, and is very comfortable in all roles to be played.

Princess,
You probably have a 6th sense that makes you the professional shopper who can feel out a sale. That's
talent. and you look good in it too.

Morb-
Us guys do our own thing. I haven't followed fashion since I
was in high school.

Lisa,
I'm sure your a little hottie even without the latest threads.

Michele,
It is hot! and if you go naked, it
will definetly be hotter.

Are you kidding? you have your own page in my book under a big L for love. I am blown away by your limitless talents.
Even though you have a right to be vain, I know that's not you.

I love crackers with cheese,

but I'm always open to a new cracker taste. Thank you, now may I have a cracker?

I'd like to add to this comment because the following day I went and bought a Dolce & Gabanna bikini. Which by the way was added to my collection of two burberry bikinis and one christian dior. So maybe I should add bikinis to the list of sunglasses and bags! hahahaha!
